Julia Shenkman is a first-year DrPH student at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, School of Public Health. Her research interests are disaster behavioral health, community resilience, medical tourism, and borderland health. She received her BA in Cultural Anthropology and MPH at Northwestern University. She currently works as a Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Eric Jones on two grants, the ENDURE project and a MINERVA funded study on climate resiliency. From 2018-2022, she worked with the Evaluation, Education, and Action Group on Menstrual Hygiene Management research with Chicago Public Schools and KEMRI. Prior to that, she was conducting independent ethnographic research on medical tourism in the Paso Del Norte region.
