Könül Jafarova holds her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University in the City of New York. As a former practitioner working with immigrants in New York, she also held the position of Graduate Research Assistant at the Social Interventions Group at Columbia University School of Social Work. She has collaborated with such international organizations on migration as ICMPD and IOM Mission in her native Azerbaijan. Prior to her PhD studies, she was a grantee of the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program at the University of Wroclaw whereby she explored the implications of the labour migration policy of Poland towards Third Country Nationals from the former Soviet Union. 

Currently, she is working towards her Doctorate degree in Sociology at the University of Wroclaw conducting research titled “Meritocracy and Migration in Semi-Peripheries: Occupational Careers of Migrants from Azerbaijan and Georgia in Poland”.

Within ENDURE project, she is a Research Assistant primarily involved in Cluster 2, exploring the experiences of migrant essential workers and their resilience in Poland during COVID-19.
